2018: People of the West: The Nez Percé

AIM: SWBAT identify the history of the Nez Percé, and describe how their lives in the west were affected by the arrival of settlers by completing selected activities and the Exit Slip with at least 80% accuracy.

Today you will begin learning about another of the groups of people who inhabited the new land in the west.  You will do this taking a few notes, and then doing a couple of fun summary activities below.

Task 1: Follow along with Mr. Perry's presentation and complete your notes.  If you have trouble seeing, you can view the presentation here.

Task 2: When he surrendered to U.S. soldiers, Chief Joseph wrote a letter that become a remarkable piece of American History.  You will read the short letter, and answer a few questions about it.

Task 3 (Partner Work): You will work with a partner to create an online Powerpoint presentation about the people of the Western Frontier.  You and you partner will use the Google Docs Template to create your presentation.  In the presentation, click "File" then "Make a Copy," then you can begin to make changes to the presentation.

You may add pictures, video, or anything else about the groups that you feel will help the understanding of your teammates, and that they will find interesting.

When you have completed your presentation, share it with Mr. Perry, and wait for your turn to present.

Task 4: You can either complete your assignment from yesterday, or begin working on your homework.
